SIL Provider Narre Warren | Shared and Independent SIL Homes With 24/7 Support
If you are looking for a SIL provider Narre Warren participants can move into, the two things families ask about most are what the support actually covers day to day and how long the process takes. Hilda Care offers shared and independent SIL homes in Narre Warren with 24/7 support. We work with you and your support coordinator from the first enquiry through to move-in, and we are clear about what is confirmed and what is still being arranged at each step.

Using SIL Alongside a Day Program or Other Services You Already Attend
Some participants worry that moving into SIL means giving up the day program, therapy or community service they already attend. They are unsure whether a SIL provider will work around those existing arrangements or expect them to change. Your SIL support is planned around what is already in your week. If you attend a day program, a therapy session or another regular service, we build your support schedule around those commitments. We coordinate with your support coordinator so your SIL hours do not clash with or duplicate the other supports in your plan.
Taking Part in Study, Training or Volunteering With SIL Support Around It
Participants who want to study, complete training or start volunteering sometimes find that their support schedule was not built with those goals in mind. When a roster is set up without those hours in it, getting to a course or a volunteering shift becomes harder than it should be. We look at your goals when we set up your support. If study, training or volunteering is something you want to do, we factor that into your roster so you have support available when you need to get there and get back. We review those arrangements with you when your schedule changes.

Respecting Your Culture, Faith and Dietary Needs at Home
Moving into a shared home can raise real concerns about whether cultural practices, faith routines or dietary needs will be understood and respected by support workers and housemates. When those needs are not discussed at the start, they often become a source of daily friction. Before you move in, we talk with you about your cultural background, any faith practices you observe and your dietary requirements. We take those into account when matching you with a home and with support workers. Where we can, we match you with a worker who shares your background or has experience supporting participants with similar needs. We support participants in English, Italian, Turkish, Filipino, Macedonian and Portuguese
Getting Consistent Support When Staff Change or Shifts Are Swapped
One of the most common frustrations in SIL is dealing with a different support worker every few days. When staff change frequently or shifts are swapped without notice, it can feel like you are constantly re-explaining your routine to someone new. We aim to keep a small, consistent team supporting each participant. When a shift needs to be covered, we use workers who already know the home and the people in it where possible. If a new worker is coming, we make sure they are briefed before they arrive. We do not leave participants to explain their own needs from scratch every time there is a change.

Feeling Safe and Settled in Your SIL Home
Some participants, particularly those moving out of family care for the first time, find the first weeks in a SIL home unsettling. The environment is unfamiliar, the routines are new and it is not always clear who to turn to if something feels wrong. We check in with every participant regularly in the first weeks after move-in, not just when there is a problem. Your support workers are trained to notice when someone is struggling to settle and to raise that with the coordinator. If something is not working in the home, we address it early. You are not expected to wait until a review to say something is wrong.
Keeping Your Home Address Private Until You Choose to Share It
Not every participant wants family members, previous providers or others to know where they are living. Some participants have specific reasons to keep their address private, and they are not always sure whether a SIL provider will respect that. Your address is not shared with anyone outside the support arrangement without your permission. We follow the privacy rules that apply to all NDIS providers, and we are clear with you from the start about who holds your information and who can access it. If you have concerns about privacy before moving in, raise them with us and we will explain what protections are in place.

How We Handle a SIL Home That No Longer Suits You
Participants sometimes find that a home that worked well at first stops being the right fit. Their support needs may have changed, the household dynamic may have shifted, or they may simply need a different environment. When that happens, it is not always clear what the process is or how long a change might take. If your home is no longer the right fit, contact us. We review what has changed, discuss the options with you and your support coordinator, and work through what a move or a change to the arrangement would involve. We do not expect participants to stay in a home that is not working for them.

Lovely NDIS provider providing support throughout all of Melbourne. I have personally recieved support through Hilda Care for the past 6 months roughly. Their administration is top notch. They have gone above and beyond providing personalised support workers for my needs, have promptly resolved any issues I may have and they always try their best to deliver extra services that may help me with my needs and support. Thank you Hilda Care, you've made my transition into the NDIS as seamless as possible, and I really look forward for the years ahead 😊Posted on Google![]()

My experience dealing with this organisation has been very disappointing. They seem unorganised, unprofessional arrogant and downright disrespectful of peoples time.Posted on Google![]()

Hilda Care is outstanding. As a Support Coordinator, I’ve had situations where I needed a Support Worker at the very last minute for my cleints, and they delivered without hesitation. Not once or twice but always. They found the right person within hours and made sure the client felt safe and supported. They have paid heed to client’s feedback and tweaked their services accordingly everytime. Their staff are well trained, reliable, and always go above and beyond to meet client needs. It’s clear they genuinely put clients first. Highly recommended.Posted on Google![]()

Questions Narre Warren Families Ask About SIL
Can I keep attending my day program if I move into a SIL home?
Yes. Your day program is an existing support in your plan, and your SIL arrangement is built around it. We coordinate with your support coordinator to make sure the two do not conflict.
What is the difference between SIL and SDA?
SIL covers the support you receive at home. SDA covers the housing itself and is funded separately. You can have one without the other, or both. See our SIL vs SDA page for a full comparison.
Do you offer independent SIL homes or only shared?
Both. We offer shared homes and independent homes. The right option depends on your goals and what your plan funds. We talk through both with you before a decision is made.
How do I know if I am eligible for SIL funding?
Eligibility depends on your support needs and what is written into your NDIS plan. Your support coordinator can check your plan with you. For the full criteria, see SIL funding eligibility.
What if my support needs change after I move in?
Contact us. We review your support with you and your coordinator and update your Roster of Care if needed. You do not have to wait for a plan review to raise a change.
How do I make a referral?
Your support coordinator can submit a referral through our referrals page, or you can call us on 1300 440 777 and we will talk through the next steps
Can I keep attending my current day program or therapy after moving into a Narre Warren SIL home?
Yes. Your SIL support is built around what is already in your week. If you attend a day program, therapy or another regular service, we plan your roster so those commitments are not disrupted. We coordinate with your support coordinator to make sure your SIL hours do not clash with or duplicate your other supports.
What happens if I feel unsettled in the first few weeks after moving in?
We check in with every participant regularly in the first weeks after move-in, not only when there is a problem. Your support workers are trained to notice when someone is finding the transition difficult and to raise that with the coordinator early. You do not have to wait for a scheduled review to say something is not working.
Can I keep my home address private?
Yes. Your address is not shared with anyone outside the support arrangement without your permission. We follow the privacy rules that apply to all NDIS providers. If you have concerns about who holds your information before you move in, raise them with us and we will explain what is in place.
What if the SIL home stops being the right fit for me?
Contact us. We review what has changed, talk through the options with you and your support coordinator, and work out what a move or change to the arrangement would involve. We do not expect participants to stay in a home that is no longer working for them.
