SIL Provider Greensborough | SIL Homes With Around the Clock Support and Workers Who Know Your Routine
Families looking for a SIL provider Greensborough participants can move into often find the process slower and less clear than expected. Most want to know whether there is a home available now, who the support workers will be, and what the move-in process actually involves. Hilda Care offers shared and independent SIL homes in Greensborough with 24/7 support. We are a registered NDIS provider (registration number 4050126032), and we work with you and your support coordinator from the first call through to move-in. We tell you what is confirmed at each stage so you are not left waiting on news. Support is in place from day one, and your Roster of Care is set up before you arrive, not after.

Moving Into SIL When Your Family Has Been Your Only Support Until Now
When a participant has relied entirely on family for daily support, moving into SIL can feel like a big unknown. Families worry about whether a paid support team will ever know their person as well as they do. We take time to understand how a participant has been supported at home before we set anything up. We ask about their routine, what works for them, what does not, and what their family has been doing day to day. That information goes into the Roster of Care so the transition does not feel like starting from scratch.
Getting a SIL Home Near the Specialists and Health Services You Already Attend
Participants who already have established relationships with a GP, a specialist or an allied health provider do not want to lose those when they move. A home in the wrong location can make appointments harder to get to and disrupt ongoing care. We take your existing health providers into account when looking at homes. Greensborough has Banyule Community Health close by, and the area has good access to services in the northern suburbs. When you enquire, we can tell you which homes are closest to the services you use.

When Your Support Needs Vary From Day to Day and Your Roster Needs to Reflect That
Some participants have conditions that affect them differently depending on the day, such as a flare-up, fatigue or a change in behaviour. A rigid support roster that is set up for a fixed routine can leave gaps when needs increase. We review your roster when your needs change, not only at the scheduled review point. If you or your support coordinator flag that something has shifted, we look at what adjustment is needed and update the arrangement accordingly.

What Your Support Coordinator Needs From You Before a SIL Referral Can Be Made
Participants and families sometimes try to start the SIL process without knowing what documentation or information the coordinator needs first. This causes delays that could be avoided. Before a referral is made, your coordinator will need a current functional capacity assessment, your NDIS plan with SIL funded, and a clear picture of your daily support needs. We can tell you exactly what is required and work with your coordinator to make sure nothing is missing before the referral goes in.
Keeping Pets or Personal Belongings That Matter to You in a SIL Home
Some participants worry they will have to leave behind a pet or personal items that are important to them when they move into a shared home. Not knowing the rules in advance makes the decision harder. Before you move in, we talk through what you want to bring and what the home can accommodate. Pets are considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the home and the other residents. Personal belongings, furniture, and items that make a room feel like yours are always welcome.

How SIL Homes Are Set Up for Participants With Mobility or Accessibility Needs
Participants with mobility impairments or wheelchair requirements need more than just a bedroom. A home that is not set up for their needs creates daily problems that affect independence and dignity. Our homes are set up with accessibility in mind. Some of our homes include step-free entry, wide doorways, adapted bathrooms and ceiling hoists. Before we place a participant in a home, we check that the layout and features match their support needs and equipment requirements.

Getting SIL Funding When You Have a Psychosocial or Mental Health Disability
Participants with a psychosocial disability often find the SIL application process harder to navigate. Evidence requirements are the same as for physical disabilities, but the way support needs show up day to day can be harder to document. SIL eligibility is based on your functional support needs, not your diagnosis. If you have a psychosocial disability, your support coordinator and treating team will need to document how your condition affects daily living. We work with participants across a range of disability types, including psychosocial. For the full eligibility criteria, see SIL funding eligibility.
Shared SIL Homes in Greensborough and What Living in One Actually Involves
Participants and families considering a shared SIL home often have questions about what day-to-day life actually looks like. They want to know more than just the bedroom count. In a shared SIL home, each participant has a private bedroom. Common areas such as the living room, kitchen and outdoor space are shared. Support workers are rostered across the house and available to each resident according to their individual plan. Housemates are matched before anyone moves in based on compatibility, routines and support needs.

When You Are Ready to Move Out of the Family Home but Your Plan Is Not Confirmed Yet
Some participants are ready to move into SIL but are still waiting on their plan to be confirmed or updated. The uncertainty makes it hard to plan and hard on the family providing support in the meantime. You can contact us before your funding is confirmed. We can explain what the process involves, what a home looks like and what your coordinator will need to submit when funding is in place. Getting that groundwork done early means you can move quickly once your plan is confirmed. SIL can only start once it is written into your NDIS plan.
How Your Support Roster Is Built Around Your Goals, Not a Standard Template
Some participants move into SIL and find their roster was built around what the provider finds easiest to staff, not around their goals or daily preferences. This is one of the most common complaints in SIL. We build your Roster of Care around your goals, your routine, and the support your plan funds. Your support coordinator is involved in the process, and the roster is reviewed with you. If something is not working, we adjust it. You are not locked into an arrangement that does not fit.

Questions Greensborough Families Ask About SIL
Does SIL cover rent or groceries?
No. SIL covers your support workers and the help they provide. Rent, groceries and utilities are paid separately from your own income or other sources. See our SIL vs SDA page for a full breakdown.
Can I bring my pet when I move into a SIL home?
Pets are considered on a case by case basis. We talk through what you want to bring before you move in and let you know what the home can accommodate.
What if my support needs change after I move in?
Contact us. We review your roster with you and your support coordinator and adjust it when needs change. You do not have to wait for a scheduled plan review.
Do you offer independent SIL homes or only shared?
Both. We offer shared and independent SIL homes. The right option depends on your goals, support needs and what your plan funds.
How do I know if I am eligible for SIL?
Eligibility depends on your functional support needs and what is written into your NDIS plan. Your support coordinator can check this with you. For the full criteria, see SIL funding eligibility.
How do I make a referral?
Your support coordinator can submit a referral through our referrals page, or you can call us on 1300 440 777. More answers are on our SIL FAQs page.
How do you match housemates in a shared Greensborough SIL home?
We match housemates based on compatibility, daily routines and support needs before anyone moves in. Where it suits everyone, you can meet potential housemates before a placement is confirmed. We do not fill a vacancy with someone who is not a good fit for the household.

My experience dealing with this organisation has been very disappointing. They seem unorganised, unprofessional arrogant and downright disrespectful of peoples time.Posted on Google![]()

Hilda Care is outstanding. As a Support Coordinator, I’ve had situations where I needed a Support Worker at the very last minute for my cleints, and they delivered without hesitation. Not once or twice but always. They found the right person within hours and made sure the client felt safe and supported. They have paid heed to client’s feedback and tweaked their services accordingly everytime. Their staff are well trained, reliable, and always go above and beyond to meet client needs. It’s clear they genuinely put clients first. Highly recommended.Posted on Google![]()
