SIL Provider Springvale | Registered NDIS SIL Homes With Support That Starts From Day One

When families start looking for a SIL provider Springvale participants can move into, one of the first concerns is whether support will actually be in place from the moment they arrive, not set up gradually after move-in. Hilda Care is a registered NDIS SIL provider offering shared and independent homes in Springvale with 24/7 support ready from day one. We work through the setup with your support coordinator before move-in so nothing is left to figure out on the day.

Call 1300 440 777 to ask about current availability, or if your support coordinator is ready to proceed, submit a referral.

When Your Provider Closes or Can No Longer Support You

Losing a SIL provider with little notice is more common than most families expect. When a provider closes or exits the NDIS, participants can be left scrambling for a new arrangement while trying to keep daily life stable. If your current provider has given notice or you are already without a SIL arrangement, call us. We assess what you need, check whether we have a suitable home and work with your support coordinator to move things forward as quickly as your plan allows. We are a registered NDIS provider and our registration number is 4050126032.

Getting SIL Support That Understands Your Cultural and Language Background

Support that does not account for a participant’s cultural background, language or dietary practices can make daily life uncomfortable, and raising those concerns is not always easy once you are already living in the home. Before you move in, we talk with you about your background, the languages you speak, any faith or cultural practices that are part of your daily routine, and any dietary requirements. We support participants in English, Italian, Turkish, Filipino, Macedonian and Portuguese, and we match you with workers who have relevant experience where we can. Springvale has a large multicultural community and we understand that cultural fit matters as much as clinical fit.

Common Misunderstandings About SIL and SDA

Moving Into SIL Without Losing the Community Connections You Already Have

One thing participants and families worry about when moving into SIL is losing access to the local community they already belong to, whether that is a cultural group, a place of worship, a weekly market or a regular catch-up with friends. Moving into a SIL home does not mean those connections have to stop. We take your existing community activities into account when setting up your support, and we help you get to the places that matter to you. Springvale is well connected, with Springvale Station on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines and a range of community and cultural services close by.

What Happens When You and a Housemate Do Not Get Along

Housemate conflict is one of the more difficult problems in shared SIL, and participants do not always know what their options are when it happens. Some assume they will have to move out or put up with the situation. If there is a conflict with a housemate, you do not have to manage it on your own. We talk with everyone involved and, where possible, work through a solution together. If the situation cannot be resolved, we discuss what other options are available, including a different home. You are not expected to stay in a living situation that is causing you distress.

Making Your Own Decisions About How Your Day Runs in a SIL Home

Some participants feel that moving into SIL means handing over control of their daily routine to their support workers or the provider. They worry about being told when to get up, when to eat and what to do. SIL is there to support your independence, not replace it. Your daily routine is yours. We build your roster around what you want your day to look like, and we step in where you need support, not where you do not. If something in your routine changes, we update your support around it. Your support coordinator and the NDIS plan you hold are what set the boundaries, not us.

How SIL Support Works When You Have Multiple Health Providers

Participants with several health providers, such as a GP, a physio, a behaviour support practitioner and a specialist, sometimes find that no one is keeping the full picture together. Appointments get missed, information is repeated to every new person and it is exhausting. Our support workers help you get to appointments and keep your daily health routines on track. We work alongside your existing health providers, following the arrangements you and your support coordinator have agreed on. We do not replace any of those providers, but we make sure your daily support is consistent with what they have put in place.

Getting Into a SIL Home When You Are Still Waiting on a Plan Review

Participants who need SIL but are caught in a plan review or waiting on a funding decision can feel stuck, unsure whether to start looking for a provider or wait until funding is confirmed. You can contact us before your funding is finalised. We can talk through what SIL involves, what a home looks like and what your support coordinator will need to provide when the time comes. Getting familiar with the process before funding is confirmed means you are ready to move quickly once it is. SIL can only start once it is written into your NDIS plan, so we work alongside your coordinator to make sure the referral is ready to go.

Having Visitors and Maintaining Family Relationships From Your SIL Home

Some participants worry that moving into a SIL home means they will see less of their family, or that visitors will not be welcome in the same way they were at home. Your SIL home is your home. Family and visitors are welcome, and we do not place restrictions on visits beyond what is reasonable for everyone living in the house. If you want family involved in your support, we can talk through what that looks like with you and your coordinator. Staying connected to the people who matter to you is part of living well, and it is not something you should have to give up to access SIL.

Questions Springvale Families Ask About SIL

What does SIL cover day to day?

SIL covers the support you need at home, including personal care, help with meals, household tasks, shopping support and getting to appointments. It does not cover rent, groceries or utilities. Those come from your own income or other sources. See our SIL vs SDA page for a full breakdown of what each funding type covers.

Can I choose my support workers?

We match you with workers based on your needs, background and preferences. Where we can, we take your language, cultural background and communication style into account. You can raise concerns about a worker at any time and we will work through it with you.

What if I am on a waiting list or still in a plan review?

You can contact us before your funding is confirmed. We can talk through the process and make sure you and your coordinator are ready to move once SIL is in your plan. For the full eligibility criteria, see SIL funding eligibility.

Do you offer both shared and independent SIL homes?

Yes. Both options are available. The right one depends on your goals, support needs and what your plan funds. We talk through both before any decision is made.

What happens if the home stops working for me?

Contact us. We review what has changed, talk through the options with you and your support coordinator, and work out what comes next. You are not expected to stay in an arrangement that is no longer right for you.

How does my family stay involved after I move in?

With your permission, we keep your family updated on important changes. You decide who receives updates and what they receive. Visitors are welcome, and family involvement in your support can be discussed with your coordinator.

Lovely NDIS provider providing support throughout all of Melbourne. I have personally recieved support through Hilda Care for the past 6 months roughly. Their administration is top notch. They have gone above and beyond providing personalised support workers for my needs, have promptly resolved any issues I may have and they always try their best to deliver extra services that may help me with my needs and support. Thank you Hilda Care, you've made my transition into the NDIS as seamless as possible, and I really look forward for the years ahead 😊

My experience dealing with this organisation has been very disappointing. They seem unorganised, unprofessional arrogant and downright disrespectful of peoples time.

Hilda Care is outstanding. As a Support Coordinator, I’ve had situations where I needed a Support Worker at the very last minute for my cleints, and they delivered without hesitation. Not once or twice but always. They found the right person within hours and made sure the client felt safe and supported. They have paid heed to client’s feedback and tweaked their services accordingly everytime. Their staff are well trained, reliable, and always go above and beyond to meet client needs. It’s clear they genuinely put clients first. Highly recommended.

This is one of the most reliable and compassionate disability service providers we’ve worked with. Their communication is clear. The support workers show great understanding and patience, especially during challenging moments. They make everyday routines more enjoyable and less stressful for everyone involved. We feel very lucky to have them on our side.
