NDIS prices change every financial year, and 2026-27 has brought bigger changes than usual. The document most people call the NDIS Price Guide has a new format, a new decision maker and new price limits. This guide explains the current rates in plain English, shows how they affect your invoices and flags the changes already on the way.
All prices below are the national maximum amounts per hour, including GST, unless stated otherwise. They apply to supports delivered in Melbourne and other MM 1 to MM 5 areas.

What Happened to the NDIS Price Guide?
For years, prices and claiming rules were published together in one document called the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, better known as the NDIS Price Guide. For 2026-27, that format has changed:
- Â Â Â The Annual Pricing Review: The NDIA’s report explaining the evidence and recommendations behind this year’s prices.
- Â Â Â The NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27: The official list of maximum prices for each support item.
There is also a new decision-maker. Under the NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Act 2026, the Minister for Disability and the NDIS now sets price limits through a formal pricing determination. The first determination was made on 24 September 2026, and the Pricing Schedule 2026-27 is effective from that date. The prices match the guidance the NDIA had already applied from 1 July 2026, so most participants will not see a change on their invoices.
Who the NDIS Price Limits Apply To
How price limits affect you depends on how your plan is managed:
- Â Â Â NDIA-managed and plan-managed: Providers cannot charge you more than the maximum price, and the NDIA or your plan manager cannot pay more than it.
- Â Â Â Self-managed: The price limits do not apply, so you can agree to pay more. Your budget will simply not stretch as far.
The limits are a ceiling, not a set price, so you and your provider can agree on a lower rate. Each support is also paid from a specific budget, which is why it helps to know how the Core, Capacity Building and Capital sections of your NDIS plan work before you book services.

Standard Support
These rates apply to standard assistance with self-care, access to community and social activities, and supported independent living (SIL):

2026-27 Therapy Price Limits
Therapy prices changed more than usual this year. The psychology limit rose from $232.99 to $252.99 per hour, while the dietitian limit fell from $188.99 to $178.99.

 Therapist travel time is capped at half the hourly rate, as shown in the last column. Travel should only be charged if it is agreed in your service agreement.

Remote and Very Remote Price Limits
Prices are higher where supports are delivered in remote areas, based on where the support takes place rather than your home address. Areas are grouped using the Modified Monash Model (MM). Supports delivered anywhere in metropolitan Melbourne use the national price.

Pricing Rules That Affect Your Invoice
- Â Â Â Shifts that cross time bands: If one worker’s shift runs across two rate periods, the higher rate can apply to the whole shift. A shift that starts in the weekday daytime period and runs into the evening period may be charged entirely at the evening rate.
- Â Â Â Group supports: The maximum price is shared between everyone in the group. For a weekday daytime group of three, each participant can be charged up to 24.53perhour(73.58 divided by 3).
- Â Â Â Charging by the minute: Hourly supports are charged for the actual time delivered, so a 45-minute visit should be charged as three quarters of an hour.
- Â Â Â Establishment fee: A one-off fee of up to $735.80 may apply in some cases when you start personal care or community participation support. Ask your provider whether it applies and make sure it is in your service agreement.
If an invoice does not match these rules, raise it with your provider straight away. Wrong rates and unchecked invoices are one of the most common causes of NDIS funding misuse, and they are much easier to fix when caught early.
What Is Changing Next
Award Wage Changes From 1 December 2026
On 11 September 2026, the Fair Work Commission handed down its decision on pay for disability support workers under the SCHADS Award, as part of its review of gender-based undervaluation. The award changes take effect on 1 December 2026, and the government has said the 2026-27 Pricing Schedule will be updated later this year to reflect them. Support worker price limits are likely to change again before the next financial year. We will update this page when the new schedule is released.
Different Prices for Registered and Unregistered Providers
The government is consulting on differentiated pricing, which would set different price limits depending on whether a support is delivered by a registered or unregistered provider. The NDIA’s Annual Pricing Review recommended it start on 1 January 2027. It has not been confirmed yet, so nothing changes for now.
How to Make Your Funding Go Further
Knowing the price limits helps you plan, not just check invoices. A few practical tips:
- Â Â Â Book weekday support where you can: Three hours of standard support costs up to $220.74 on a weekday daytime, but up to $400.50 on a Sunday. That $179.76 difference adds up quickly over a year.
- Â Â Â Check your support level: High-intensity rates should only be charged when you need a worker with high-intensity skills.
- Â Â Â Consider group activities: Where they suit your goals, group supports cost less per person than one-to-one support.
- Â Â Â Review your service agreement when prices change: Make sure new rates are agreed in writing before they appear on your invoices.
