SIL Provider Bayswater | In-Home Support Where You Already Live

Many people in Bayswater want to stay in their own home but need help with daily tasks. They do not know if SIL can work that way or assume they have to move into a shared or independent home to get support.

Hilda Care provides in-home SIL support in Bayswater. Support workers come to your home to help you with the things you need. You stay where you are, in the place you know, with the life you have. We work with you and your support coordinator to build a plan that fits your situation. We are registered with the NDIS (Registration Number: 4050126032).

Why Families in Bayswater Choose In-Home SIL Support

Some people worry that any SIL option means moving away from home or losing control over their space. They do not realize in-home SIL lets them stay exactly where they are while getting the support they need.

In-home SIL means support workers come to your home. You do not have to move. Your bedroom, your routine, your community are all the same. What changes is that you have trained support workers helping you with daily tasks like personal care, meals, household tasks, medication, appointments, and getting out to activities.

Many people choose in-home SIL because they want to stay in their current home, stay in their neighbourhood, and keep their independence and control over their space.

Getting Started With In-Home SIL When You Already Have a Place to Live

Many people think getting SIL support means a long process of finding a home and moving. If they already have a home they like, they assume that makes SIL harder or impossible.

If you already have a place to live in Bayswater, that is where your SIL support starts. You do not have to move. We work with you and your support coordinator to confirm your SIL funding, set up your Roster of Care showing who will support you and when, and arrange for support workers to start coming to your home.

The process is straightforward. Once your funding is confirmed, we can usually start within 14 days.

How In-Home SIL Works Different From Shared or Independent Homes

Some people are unsure whether in-home SIL is right for them or how it compares to other options. They do not understand the practical differences or which option suits their situation.

In a shared SIL home, you live with other participants and share common areas. In an independent home, you rent a place on your own and support workers come there. With in-home SIL, you live in your current home and support workers come to you.

The main difference is where you live. With in-home support, you keep your current home, your current neighbourhood and your current life. Support workers help you with tasks in the home you already have.

The cost structure is different too. In-home SIL costs depend on how many hours of support you need per week. Before you start, we give you figures in writing so you know what it costs. See our SIL funding eligibility guide for more detail on how the NDIA decides what you can have.

Support Workers Coming to You in Bayswater and the Eastern Suburbs

Some people worry that support workers coming to their home will not be reliable or that they will have a different person every time. They do not know how to ask for consistency.

We aim to keep a consistent team supporting you. You do not get a different worker every shift. When a shift needs covering, we use workers who already know you. If a new worker comes, they are briefed beforehand so you do not have to explain everything again.

Our team is based in the eastern suburbs and knows Bayswater, Box Hill, Ringwood and the surrounding areas. They can reliably get to you and know the local community, services and how to help you access what you need.

Keeping Your Home and Your Independence With Daily SIL Support

Some people worry that having support workers come to their home means losing privacy or control. They do not realize that good in-home SIL is about supporting you to stay independent, not taking over.

Your home is your space. Support is there to help you do the things you need help with, not to do everything for you. If you can make a cup of tea with a reminder, we remind you. If you can manage your own room, we support you to keep doing that. If you want to learn something new, we help with that learning.

Your daily routine is yours. We build support around what you want your day to look like. The goal is for you to keep doing what you can do and get help with what you need help with.

When to Ask for More or Less In-Home Support as Your Needs Change

Some people think their SIL plan is fixed and they cannot ask for changes. They do not know they can adjust their support as their situation changes.

You can ask for changes any time. If your needs shift, if your health changes, if you want to try something new, or if you need less support in an area, contact us. We review what is different with you and your support coordinator and update your roster.

Changes are normal. Your support adjusts as your life changes.

Questions Bayswater Families Ask About In-Home SIL

How does in-home SIL work if I already own or rent my home in Bayswater?

Your home is where your SIL support happens. Support workers come to you at times that suit your plan. You do not have to move or change where you live. Your home, your neighbourhood and your life stay the same.

What if I live with family? Can I still have in-home SIL support?

Yes. If you live with family and need SIL support, workers come to your home to support you. Your family is part of your home life. We coordinate with your family and your support coordinator so everyone understands how support works.

Do support workers come every day or just certain days?

It depends on your NDIS plan and what you need. Some people have support several days a week. Others have support daily or even 24/7 if their plan funds that. Before you start, we give you exact details on which days and times support is scheduled.

What happens if I need to go to hospital or have a health emergency?

Transport to hospital or medical appointments is part of your SIL support. If you have a scheduled appointment, your support worker helps you get there. If there is an emergency, contact emergency services first. Your support coordinator can also help arrange urgent support if needed.

Can I use in-home SIL while I am working or studying?

Yes. If you work or study, we build your support around your schedule so those commitments are protected. Transport to work or study is part of what we provide. We coordinate with your support coordinator to make sure support times do not clash with other parts of your plan.

What if I want to reduce my support hours because my needs have changed?

Contact us. We review what has changed and work with your support coordinator to adjust your plan. You do not have to wait for a formal plan review to ask for changes.

How much privacy do I have if support workers are coming to my home?

Your home is your private space. Support workers only come at scheduled times. They are there to help with specific tasks, not to be there all the time. You control when they come and what they do.

What if the support is not working or the worker is not a good fit?

Contact us. We review what is not working and discuss options with you and your coordinator. If a support worker is not a good fit, we arrange for someone else. You should feel comfortable with the person supporting you.

My experience dealing with this organisation has been very disappointing. They seem unorganised, unprofessional arrogant and downright disrespectful of peoples time.

Hilda Care is outstanding. As a Support Coordinator, I’ve had situations where I needed a Support Worker at the very last minute for my cleints, and they delivered without hesitation. Not once or twice but always. They found the right person within hours and made sure the client felt safe and supported. They have paid heed to client’s feedback and tweaked their services accordingly everytime. Their staff are well trained, reliable, and always go above and beyond to meet client needs. It’s clear they genuinely put clients first. Highly recommended.

This is one of the most reliable and compassionate disability service providers we’ve worked with. Their communication is clear. The support workers show great understanding and patience, especially during challenging moments. They make everyday routines more enjoyable and less stressful for everyone involved. We feel very lucky to have them on our side.
