SIL Provider St Kilda | Live Near the Beach With Support You Can Count On
St Kilda is a place where people want to be. The beach, the bars, the restaurants, the energy. But some people wonder whether they can stay in St Kilda and get SIL support, or whether they will have to move somewhere else. They worry that a SIL provider will not understand why St Kilda matters to them or will try to push them to move for convenience.
Hilda Care is a SIL provider in St Kilda where we understand that where you live is part of your life. We do not ask you to compromise on where you want to be. We work with you to get support set up right here in St Kilda. We are registered with the NDIS (Registration Number: 4050126032).

SIL in St Kilda When Community and Social Life Matter Most
Some people in St Kilda have an active life. They go to Acland Street for dinner, they use the tram to get around, they know their community. They worry that moving into SIL will force them to slow down or that support workers will not fit into that kind of active routine.
Your support is built around keeping that life going. If you work, study, have regular activities, or go out on weekends, we protect those times in your routine. Your support workers know St Kilda and know how to help you get where you want to go. We coordinate with your support coordinator so your SIL support works with your life, not against it.
An active life does not stop when you move into SIL. It just gets the support it needs.
Setting Up Your SIL Support When You Already Know What Works for You
Some people have lived independently or semi-independently before and know what they need. They worry that a SIL provider will try to tell them what is best instead of listening to what they already know about themselves.
We start by listening to what you know about your life and what you have learned works for you. If you have lived in a certain way before, if you know your schedule, if you understand what helps you succeed, we build from that. We do not tell you what you need. We ask you what you need and we listen to your answer.
Your experience matters. Your knowledge about yourself matters. We build support around that.

Understanding What Your SIL Costs and What Your Plan Actually Covers
Some people do not understand what their NDIS funding covers and what they have to pay for. They get confused about whether their plan is enough or whether SIL is affordable. This confusion stops them from taking the next step.
Your NDIS plan funds support workers. It does not fund rent, groceries, utilities, or household costs. You pay those from your own income. Before you move into SIL, we give you exact costs in writing. What your support will cost per week. What living in St Kilda will cost per week. That way you can work out whether it fits your budget.
We also explain what your plan actually funds for SIL so there are no surprises later. For more detail on how the NDIA decides your SIL eligibility, see our SIL funding eligibility guide.
How We Make Sure Your Support Workers Actually Show Up and Deliver
Some people have had bad experiences with support services where workers do not show up, or they do, but they are unreliable or do not actually help with what was promised. They do not want that to happen again.
We keep a consistent team supporting you. You do not get a different worker every shift. The same workers come to you regularly so you build a relationship and they understand what you need. If a worker is unreliable, we replace them. Your support is supposed to be reliable.
Reliability is not complicated. It is a worker showing up when they say they will and doing what they say they will do. That is what we provide.

Choosing Between What You Can Do Alone and What You Need Help With
Some people do not know where the line is between what they can manage and what they need help with. They worry about asking for too much help or not getting enough. They do not know how to think about what independence actually means.
Independence is not about doing everything alone. It is about doing the things that matter to you while getting help with the things you need help with. If you can make breakfast with a reminder, we remind you. If you can manage your money, you manage it. If you need help with personal care, we provide that.
We assess what you can do and what you need help with. We support what you can do and we help with what you cannot. That is how you stay independent while getting the support you need.
Keeping Your Routines and Activities Protected With SIL Support in St Kilda
Some people worry that living in a SIL home means losing control over their schedule or their ability to do the things they love. They do not know how to keep their routines protected while also getting support.
Your routine stays your own. If you go to the beach, if you go to Acland Street, if you have a job or study or community activities, those things stay in your life. Your support workers help you keep doing those things, not stop doing them.
We coordinate with your support coordinator so your SIL hours fit around your life, not the other way around. Your routines are protected because they matter.

Finding Housemates You Can Actually Live With in a Shared SIL Home
Some people worry about who they will live with if they choose a shared SIL home. They do not know whether they will get along with their housemates or whether the situation will be uncomfortable.
We match people carefully before anyone moves in. We talk with you about how you like to live, what matters to you, what kind of people you want around you. We check that against who is already in the home. If there is a good fit, you meet your potential housemates before you decide to move.
A good match from the start makes a real difference. We do not just fill homes with whoever is available.
Questions St Kilda Families Ask About SIL
Do you have homes in St Kilda itself or do people have to move somewhere else?
We work in St Kilda and the surrounding bayside areas. Depending on what is available and what suits your situation, your home might be in St Kilda or nearby. We discuss your preferences with you.
I work in the city and use the tram from St Kilda. Can I keep my job if I move into SIL?
Yes. Your SIL support is built around your work schedule. We protect your work hours. St Kilda has good tram access which connects to the city. Transport to work is part of what we provide. Your job stays protected.
I love going to Acland Street and the beach. Will I be able to keep doing that with SIL support?
Yes. Those activities are part of your life. Your support workers help you keep doing the things you enjoy. Transport to Acland Street, the beach, or other places you want to go is part of what we provide.
What if I need to go to a doctor or hospital? How does that work?
Transport to your GP, specialists, or hospital is part of your SIL support. St Kilda has medical clinics on Acland Street and nearby. For more serious needs, Alfred Hospital is close by. Your support worker helps you get where you need to go.
I have never lived away from family. Will I feel lonely in a SIL home?
You might feel lonely at first. That is normal when you move into something new. Your support team knows this and checks in with you regularly. We also match you with people carefully so you are living with people you can get along with, not random people.
Do support workers change a lot or do I get the same people?
We aim to keep a consistent team supporting you. You work with the same workers regularly so you build trust. When shifts need covering, we use workers who already know you. Consistency matters.
What if I want to try shared living but later want my own place?
You can make that change. If shared living works for a time and then you want independent living, we can help with that transition. You are not locked into one living arrangement forever.
How long does it take to start SIL after my funding is confirmed?
Most people start within 14 days of their SIL funding being confirmed. We do not have long waiting lists. Once your funding is ready and we have talked through your needs, we work to get you started quickly.

My experience dealing with this organisation has been very disappointing. They seem unorganised, unprofessional arrogant and downright disrespectful of peoples time.Posted on Google![]()

Hilda Care is outstanding. As a Support Coordinator, I’ve had situations where I needed a Support Worker at the very last minute for my cleints, and they delivered without hesitation. Not once or twice but always. They found the right person within hours and made sure the client felt safe and supported. They have paid heed to client’s feedback and tweaked their services accordingly everytime. Their staff are well trained, reliable, and always go above and beyond to meet client needs. It’s clear they genuinely put clients first. Highly recommended.Posted on Google![]()
