Trusted SIL Provider in Wyndham

Finding the right SIL provider is about more than filling a vacancy. It is about feeling comfortable at home, having reliable support workers, and building daily independence at your own pace. As a registered SIL provider in Wyndham, we support NDIS participants with practical, day-to-day assistance in homes that feel stable, safe, and genuinely lived-in.

We support over 150 participants, employ more than 200 support workers, and deliver over 5,000 hours of support every week across more than 20 SIL and SDA properties. That means real experience and real outcomes for the people we work with.

What Is Supported Independent Living?

What Is Supported Independent Living?

Supported Independent Living is an NDIS-funded support that helps people with disability live as independently as possible. It is not about doing everything for someone. It is about being there when they need help and stepping back when they do not.

Most people in SIL in Wyndham live in shared homes with a few housemates. A support worker helps with things like:

  • Getting ready in the morning (showering, dressing, grooming)
  • Cooking meals and managing nutrition
  • Cleaning and keeping the home tidy
  • Taking medication correctly and on time
  • Getting to appointments or community activities
  • Managing money and daily planning
  • Building skills toward more independence

SIL is flexible. The level of support is based on your individual needs and goals, not a fixed package.

How to Get SIL Funded in Your NDIS Plan

How NDIS SIL Funding Works in Wyndham

SIL is funded under Core Supports in your NDIS plan. It covers your support workers, not your rent, food, or utilities.

Standard vs High Intensity Support

The NDIS has two pricing tiers. Most participants use standard support. High intensity applies when workers need extra qualifications for complex medical or behavioural needs.

Regular and Irregular Supports

Your funding covers your day-to-day roster, plus a set number of irregular days each year for unexpected situations such as illness.

Does it cost me anything out of pocket?

In most cases, no. Your NDIS plan covers SIL. You still pay rent, groceries, and personal expenses from your own income or Disability Support Pension.

SIL funding is not tied to a provider.

If you want to change providers, you can. Your funding moves with you.

If you are unsure whether your plan includes SIL, speak to your support coordinator or contact us.

Speak to Our Support Coordinator

The Assessment Process for SIL Housing in Wyndham

Step 1: Check Your NDIS Eligibility: You need to be an NDIS participant under 65 with a permanent and significant disability.

Step 2: Speak With Your Support Coordinator: They help build your NDIS plan, identify whether SIL is right for you, and connect you with providers. We can help if you do not have one.

Step 3: Functional Capacity Assessment: An Occupational Therapist (OT) assesses how your disability affects daily life and writes a report recommending the support you need. This is a key part of your SIL application.

Step 4: Find a Provider and Get a Quote: We prepare a Roster of Care outlining your supports, schedule, and costs. This goes to the NDIS for review.

Step 5: NDIS Approves Your Funding: The NDIS reviews your plan, OT report, and roster, then confirms your funding in writing.

Step 6: Move In: We help you plan your move, set up your support schedule, and make sure everything is ready from day one.

The process can take a few months, so starting early is worth it.

SIL Homes in Wyndham: What Makes a Good Match?

When placing participants together in SIL housing, we consider:

  • Support needs and whether staff can manage them together
  • Daily routines and compatibility
  • Personality and communication style
  • Shared interests where possible
  • Sleep schedules, noise sensitivity, and lifestyle
  • Gender preferences (where relevant)

We never place someone in a home just to fill a vacancy. If it is not the right fit, we will say so and keep looking.

We Serve Wyndham and the Surrounding Areas

Our SIL housing in Wyndham Vale is part of a wider network of properties across the Wyndham region. Wyndham Vale has good transport links, shops, medical services, and green spaces, making it a comfortable area for many NDIS participants.

We currently support participants in areas including:

With SDA, the funding goes straight to the SDA provider to cover the cost of the special design and building. You still pay a Reasonable Rent Contribution, usually about 25% of your base Disability Support Pension, plus your regular living expenses. SDA does not make your home free.

If you have both, SDA pays for the home, and SIL pays for the support you get inside it. Each one has its own costs on top of your NDIS funding.

FAQs

Can I choose who I live with?

You can share your preferences, and we do our best to honour them. If a match is not working, we take it seriously and explore other options.

What if I want to move out later?

That is your right. SIL is not permanent. Many participants move toward more independent living over time, and we support that goal.

Can I have visitors?

Yes. These are real homes. House rules exist for practical reasons but are not restrictive.

What if I am unhappy with my support worker?

You can request a change. Hilda Care works with you to find someone who is a better fit.

Does SIL cover overnight support?

Yes, if it is in your roster of care. It depends on your assessed needs.

Is SIL the same as SDA?

No. SDA is a physical property for people with very high support needs. SIL is the support delivered inside the home. You can have one or both.

How long does it take to get into a SIL home?

If your plan already includes SIL funding, it can move quickly once a vacancy is found. If you are applying for the first time, expect a few months for the full process to be completed.
